One of the most pressing issues was making unique buzzing patterns with the vibrating motor. While looking for which pins could modulate the output, PWM, I found an onboard LED. I programmed the LED to turn on entirely when pointed at the origin, north, and off when looking south. East and west were indistinguishable, but if you turn and see the change in brightness, it becomes clear which way is north, and therefore which direction you are facing.

I used some of the same methods to modulate the vibrator motor's power, but unlike the LED, which was visible with 1% power, it would not turn on unless it was at least 35% power. I made a startup sequence with four buzzes that increase intensity each time with pauses between them.
