2014-06-10 (Tu) Tennis Ball Launcher COMPLETED


Some days all the pieces fit. Well enough. I completed another project!

Enough background.

The threaded rod holding the central PVC pipe was taken out from the central PVC pipe but kept fastened between the straight brackets still connected to the PVC pipes containing elastic. The bolts in the middle of the straight bracket were also loosened so the bracket could swivel easily. The angle of the brackets was adjusted to fit two criteria: the tennis ball must be able to exit the launcher and a shoe must be able to apply pressure to the tennis ball while the launcher is vertical. When the angle was found a mark was made on the PVC corresponding with the level of the threaded rod.

A pilot hole was drilled in line with the work and the orientation of the first hole. The hole was then drilled out to 5/16” and carried all the way through the PVC pipe.

Acorn nuts replaced all the exposed nuts to help prevent snagging.

The painted parts were attached. No solvent welding was done since pressure to the rear PVC will tighten the seals.
