You are probably here because you backed the Kickstarter for Granica Issue 1. Thank you for supporting this project. Unfortunately, the publisher, Laguna Studio, has been involved in some unethical business practices, such as making time-sensitive demands at 2 am that expired at 9 am, leaving zero business days to act. The most significant demand was to have full access to the printable files and be able to make changes without needing to confirm anything with me. They attempted to take complete artistic control of the comic.
When we promptly responded to negotiate, we were ignored for weeks. We tried to move the project forward and offered the files on the condition that they could not be modified. They refused and held the project hostage, threatening to cancel it if they weren't allowed to take complete control. We began searching for a new publisher for future issues and continued to negotiate in good faith to ensure the release of issue #1. Then, without warning, an email was sent to all our backers canceling the Kickstarter. The final knife twist was telling people to buy the comic and providing a link here to my blog, where they knew nobody would be able to buy the issue or back a new campaign. If they had intended a professional parting of the ways, they would have linked to the new studio, Definite Article.
All that said, you should receive a refund from Laguna if you have not already. They are in control of the Kickstarter money and communication, which is why you have not heard anything until now.
If you are still interested in Granica, please visit Definite Article and sign up to receive updates. We are working quickly to determine the steps needed to get the inaugural issue out now that we have emerged from publishing purgatory.
