A layout was done for the EasyEDA. Spacing between the encoders was decided because 31mm diameter knobs were selected for the shafts. Smaller knobs could be used but it would require reorganizing and rerouting the board.

Thoughts about an enclosure led to the realization that the controller and Bluetooth adapter would require a deeper enclosure then the clearance needed for the encoders. Since the encoders should be fastened to the top of the enclosure, the controller and bluetooth adapter were moved to the bottom of the board. A single sided PCB would still be possible but it wouldn't be feasible to make this board at home without more advanced equipment.
