2018-03-07 (W) Parametric Bead Roller COMPLETED

I was talking with a friend of mine who was tasked to make hundreds of polymer clay beads for memorial day. She was curious about cutting a pen in half to make a bead roller. I had never heard of a bead roller, and she referred me to the two-minute mark of this instructional video. The device is straight-forward. Beads take on a shape which corresponds to the track they are rolled on. A spherical bead comes out of the circular track. An ovoid comes out of the oval track. A conical bead comes out of the diamond track.

My friend was only interested in small circular beads, so we talked about the best way to split a pen to get two half-circles. Then she mentioned she had access to a 3D printer and we found an existing model on Thingiverse which could be scaled to make five beads at once. I offered to make her a custom roller which could make any diameter bead provided the printer could accommodate the resolution and dimensions.

Enough background
Modeling in OpenSCAD was done for a bead roller. It would have six tracks, and each track's radius could be changed with a single variable. The intention was to create numerous models and provide her the code so she could make any size she might need later.

The customizer in Thingiverse provided a convenient method for her, or anyone, to create the tracks they need and promptly make a suitable model.
