Until this article, I wasn't aware that universal component checkers existed, much less a freely-available code snippet that anyone could download and use themselves. I can't say how much this device's creator improved the code or not, but the demonstration made it look like it was as fool-proof of a tool as anyone could hope for in a technical field.
