Ground or 0V was the most typical connection in each of the modules. Every switch needed a ground, and both potentiometers needed a ground connection. Since each module was identical, measurements were taken, and four lengths of wire were cut for each of the remaining modules.

Copying like this was only practical after making sure that the arrangement was suitable and that was done when the IO was tested through the computer. Since everything worked, it made sense to quadruplicate the work into each remaining module.
