Yesterday I removed a problematic println() statement, which was not the first time they caused problems. I still don't know why they sprout issues, but I went through my code and removed all of them. I had to use a regular print() command, but I sent ("\n"), which is a newline character. Even with the serial problems out of the way, I was not getting any sound. I knew the MIDI card worked because my old code pumped out tunes all day. The problem revealed itself when I looked at my temporary code that sent a simple noteON instruction. The problem was that I used a velocity of 128, but anything over 127 gets ignored. After that, I heard notes playing reliably.
