2021-06-08 (Tu) Wearable Macro Keyboard BackOfTheHand BotH Apple Watch socket

The shape of an Apple Watch band would be difficult to model in OpenSCAD, so I drew the profile in QCAD, a 2D program, and imported it. I extruded the shape much wider than a watch band because it needs space to insert. The square at the bottom is the exact dimensions of the locking tab on a band, but I guessed at the position.

The printed socket came out wonderfully. I thought I put ample plastic above and below the cavity, but I could pull the band out with a bit of force due to flexibility. I can thicken the walls or even provide metallic reinforcement if necessary. I am pleased the measurements were accurate.
