2021-07-25 (Sa) Gravy Shock Restarting

I'm restarting work on Gravy Shock. It has been a few months since I've done much writing, and I have been collecting ideas about how to proceed. My editor and I sat down with a couple of goals. We wanted to finish editing the chapter, add a small event to the past, and end with Jerry freaking out that they were under attack.

The chapter was almost completely edited, so we didn't spend much time with that, but it took us a while to find a place to insert a small event. The journey was smooth so far, but when the port authority added a new ship to the light rail, there was a period of weightlessness. Jerry even tells them that it lasts less than twelve seconds, and the computer announces that it is about to happen. At the end of the book, the characters experience similar events, but gravity doesn't return, and Jerry stays silent. Finally, when it's clear that something is wrong, he yells at everyone to get into their spacesuits in a panic.
