2023-08-27 (Su) GrinderCompassMKII Attaching feedback weights

I trimmed the head off a brass bolt and shortened it to approximately the compass's height. I cut a brass strip segment long enough to attach to the frame and curve around as a spring. Before I attached the brass, I thinned it with a rotary tool and a sanding disc. I installed the spring with solder, then added the threaded rod with a couple of nuts for weight. Luckily, I only burned my fingers twice on all the hot metal. I adjusted everything so the nuts sat just below the lower bead.

I did not feel any feedback from the sprung weights, but I detected a lot of vibration from the spinner's axle. I should be able to reduce this problem by recutting the divots on the stabilizing bolts and adhering the magnet to the axle.
