2023-08-28 (M) GrinderCompassMKII Small frames and broken springs

I wanted to make new frames more compact and closer to the final size. My old frame jig worked well if I removed the long portions and kept the arc portion. I put divots into four M3 nylon bolts. I used a short bolt at the bottom and a longer one at the top to secure the lower and use the upper to fine-tune the spinner tension.
Bolts with divots, short threaded rods, small frames, unusable sprints, and a penny

The springs I made from brass strips took a long time to sand down and were too short. It typically takes me 15 to 20 minutes of tedious sanding with a rotary tool to complete a spring, so finding it was a waste of time was devastating. I need a way to quickly and reliably make usable springs.
