If you're not familiar with this book, read this otherwise you'll just be reading spoilers below.
In an earlier chapter, Dawson meditated by asking himself rapid-fire questions. This was repeated when he was trying to clear his head after a talk with Vani. This internal conflict was meant to show the thought process many guys go through when dealing with women. It was a balancing act of moving the story while showing Dawson's machismo and domestic feelings about Vani.
Dawson was supposed to be absent from the ship for a few days to move the story along but the natural reactions of the characters made that difficult. Dawson had to find some reason to stay away for days. This should not be a Charged event like an attack or kidnapping but rather some character-driven reason. He was going to hand deliver a package to a new character. Her backstory has already been written but something compelling will have to keep Dawson away.

- Describe a civil trial where a Charged person sues for the right to have a second identity but the case turns against him into a vilification of vigilantism.
