I spent the day preparing for Grindfest by helping cook food, setting up furniture, and chatting with new folx. One man had a high-end consumer drone and did plenty of aerial photography, so I asked him to show me the ropes flying my drone. I was nervous about flying too high or fast, but all of my accidents were recoverable, and the only real damage was a couple of chipped propeller blades. My instructor's most significant advice was to have plenty of spare propellers. I tried taking more videos and pictures, but I needed to familiarize myself with the controls.
