I made revisions to the enclosure. The first was an arched entryway, which should help the top print cleanly without support. The second change was a long slot along the back wall where I could install a bolt and nuts so it could intersect the upper or lower bead on the spinner.
After I made the model changes, I began thinking about the overall design. I think the problem is that I have the compass spinner colliding with an immovable post. I want the relatively heavy spinner to smack into a bolt mounted to the case, but they need to be able to move relative to each other, or they will bind.
