I revised the faceplate. I moved the MIDI ports next to each other so I could plug in remote units with a short wire between in and out. The power switch is further from the microcontroller, but I have not wired that part yet, so I will not have to meddle with any existing wires. The second encoder disappeared, and I planned for a 40mm wheel to go on the existing one.
The laser cutting went well, but I messed up the back plate several times by missing holes or getting their placement wrong. I forgot that the holes needed to be in a mirrored arrangement and that they only needed to be part of the top layer.
