The design had a series of lines where the torsion spring was supposed to grip the wood, but I accidentally used the wrong setting and engraved it deeper than I intended. Regardless of the depth, I discovered that I could not attach the spring without cutting out a path for both sides of the spring, and I only made one. I was afraid this would weaken the wood beyond usability. I will experiment with other designs that do not require such drastic cutting.
