2025-11-22 (Sa) BonfireLaserTag Enhanced remote finished

On the prototyping PCB, I soldered my resistors, transistor, and the wires from the battery and remote. I terminated the LED wires and ran a couple of long wires for the focused LED I added later. I added some overly tall standoffs to the array and used them to hold the PCB in place. Instead of trimming them down, I left them long so the array stuck way up and all the internals were visible, but I wanted to finish this project. I wired the long LED into the focusing tube and added a battery. There was a short that caused some worrisome heating, but I fixed it, and nothing seemed damaged. Three of the LEDs were 850 nm, and I should have used 940 nm, but they could trigger my devices, so I left them as they were. One of the lights was visible-red and would not respond to the remotes, but the indicating LED was miswired on the PCB, so I called it a wash. The switch would reliably switch between the three LEDs, casting a wide field and the focused LED mounted below.

This mini project was not the universal amplifier I had hoped to build, but I may revisit the idea later with some additional ideas.
