The current arrangement of the back cover had the microcontroller lying loosely inside the pipe, with a USB-C cable running to a surface-mount USB adapter mounted on the back. This configuration worked all right, but the adapter wire took up space due to its bending radius, and the surface-mount adapter was expensive for a 50mm extension. I reconfigured the back cover to accommodate a couple of 3mm mounting bolts that would connect to a pair of interface bars holding the prototyping PCB. There was a large hole near the top of the cover exposing the microcontroller's USB port. With this setup, I can mount the board directly to the cover, eliminating the extension, securing the board, and saving some space.
