2026-01-02 (F) Weekly Summary

I wired four screens with eight wires each. I may have ordered them when I was planning for four taggers, but another may turn up. After adding wires, I removed the factory-installed header pins so they fit into the mounts without issue.
Four screens ready to connect

I assembled the emitter arrays, placing fiber washers between the LED rings and the lens cap, and secured everything with M2 hardware despite some hole misalignment. I wired five arcade pushbuttons and headphone plugs, but I had a little trouble with the headphones because they had five terminals and I only needed two.
Headphone connectors and arcade buttons

I was wiring the battery holders. I used to wire the positive terminals by wrapping a wire around the bolts, but I soldered those conductors to brass nuts, and that sped up the construction. Positioning was easier than before, and everything fit more discreetly.
Five battery holders and leads

I dedicated a day to wiring the infrared receivers instead of doing it during the final installation, and it was a good thing I spent the time on these. The most challenging part was attaching two wires to one component lead, which I solved by twisting and tinning the wires before soldering.
Fifteen IR receiver sensors

I wanted to make some dinosaur earrings for my wife. I bought some plastic animals at a dollar store and jewelry-making hardware online. I did not have proper jump rings, but I bent some steel M3 lock washers into shape and made do. The most critical lesson was that I needed to drill a pilot hole to insert the eye pins. After that, I went overboard and made a dozen pairs.
Earring all the things!

We held our six-month show as a massive trivia game with buzzers on our phones, so viewers could not participate, but we kept it lively and had a lot of great messages from our viewers.
