2026-01-27 (Tu) HandcuffKey24 Failed first attempt

Whistles are a vital tool for dealing with ICE agents, and groups are printing them by the bucket. I am helping with those groups, but I wanted to make a change by adding a handcuff key to the design. I measured a spare key, modeled it in OpenSCAD, and added it to an existing whistle model.
Handcuff key shaft and flag

The first iteration was no good, and I discovered that the key I measured would not fit into any cuffs I owned. For the second attempt, I measured the lock. The second print fit, but when I turned it, the plastic cracked. The final test was with a filament printer, and the resolution was noticeably worse. I could not fit the key into the lock because the printer had to make the wall thicker than would fit into the cuffs. I cannot think of a way to make this design work with the material.
Three REVs and no luck
