I couldn't find my small wire spools, so I used stiff conductors, but I connected all the components to the Arduino. I decided to go to the top of the controller so I could remove it from the wooden platform later. Sadly, the wires were such a cluster that I couldn't attach the lid without stressing the solder joints. The weak connections on the piezo broke, and one of my potentiometers was faulty. I need to rethink how I connect the top.
