2025-09-29 (M) Critical Affection: Sunshine

Gerald von Stoddard joined us to talk about Sunshine (2007) and his upcoming graphic novel, Love & Death on The Dark Side of the Moon. When I heard the premise of his comic, one aspect struck me as familiar because he mentioned the sun was dying, so I suggested this movie. Gerald discovered that he had seen the movie years ago and may have subconsciously influenced his story. I had trouble enjoying the movie because the science was inaccurate and inconsistent. We all agreed that it should have stayed a sci-fi movie instead of suddenly becoming a monster flick, but the top-notch acting and production value made it watchable for everyone.
