2025-11-08 (Sa) BonfireLaserTag Preparing for travel

I needed to travel across the country for a week, but I did not want to stop working on the laser tag. I could probably get a lot done just reprogramming the new remote, but I decided to take the NERF tagger's hardware off and pack it. The NERF unit had a malfunctioning USB cable, but I could still open the unit and plug directly into the microcontroller's board. I checked it for broken wires, and it was fine, but I discovered that all the wiring was reversed, so I corrected it, and it tested fine. Unfortunately, after downloading the latest code, it began bootlooping. I assumed this was something to do with later hardware on the chipset compared to the unit in my pipe tagger, which still worked perfectly. I had a new problem, but I could still take it with me. I removed the hardware from the NERF and mounted it on an aluminum strip thin enough to accept the NERF rail adapters. I cut it to length and stuffed it into my bag. Since I was uncertain about the usability, I also packed the pipe tagger and prayed that TSA would not confiscate it.
