I recently found an old vinyl cutter at a thrift store for under $25 and I could not pass it up. It was an older model, so finding software was tricky, but I found a $60 program that supported it, did not require a monthly fee, and let me try it before I bought. I tested the program by downloading a collar that went around a Sharpie to fit into a plotter, and it worked as expected. I liked the Sharpie adapter, but I suspected the G2 gel pen refills would last longer because they would not repeatedly smash a marker tip perpendicularly. I changed the dimensions so the pen body would fit into the vinyl cutter's receptacle and removed the groove, which was only necessary for insertion into a comb binder spine. I changed the hemispherical cap to a flat one and made it hexagonal so it would not roll on tabletops, but the hex shape coincidentally improved clearance on the cutter's shuttle. I also trimmed off part of the cap so it would clear better. I am glad I made the G2 converter because it was shorter than the Sharpie adapter, and I could close the cutter's lid without touching the pen. The calibration sheets visible in the photo were written by the G2 pen refill, except for my handwriting.
