2026-02-24 (Tu) RolandDragPen COMPLETED

I made a pen adapter for my vinyl cutter, but now I want to use my vinyl cutting drag knife as a pen. These exist and are reasonably priced, but the quality of my existing blade and holder was better than the cheap ones I saw online, and since I already owned the expensive part, it seemed reasonable to print one. I checked whether anyone had made a pen adapter for a Roland-compatible drag knife, but I did not find one, so I modeled one. All the parameters were adjustable, so I could change the angle and handle diameter to make it more comfortable.

I printed with the estimated parameters and installed the pair of M3 nuts and bolts. I was happy with how secure the blade cartridge felt. It was a Roland-compatible blade set. I wish the handle were longer, and if I use it regularly, I may print a new one. I worry that I have to hold the handle higher than I would hold a pen, but experience will tell me if that requires rework.
