The project has ground to a halt. The undone tasks felt overwhelming, and the reward of completing this felt smaller each day. As I saw the device come into focus, I was not as proud of it as I hoped. All these disheartening feelings made it difficult to sit down and work on it, especially since I had to gather all my materials, walk to a different building, set up, work, tear down my tools, clean up, and walk back. I cannot control some of the factors, like working outside the apartment, but I can influence my motivations by planning better. Seeing a hopeless expanse of work was discouraging, so I listed all the remaining tasks and broke them down into things that can be finished in a day or less. The list was not that long, and the feeling of never-ending work faded.
