2026-04-17 (F) Weekly Summary

I wired everything on the top of the third octave. Each light and switch received a wire long enough to reach the IO expander board, which will be mounted soon.

The inputs were all finished when I landed them next to the IO expander and bridged the connection between the wires and board pins. These connections took longer than running wires to the lights and switches, so I will do the outputs next.

The final wiring went pretty smoothly. I connected the ground wires by twisting the black wire ends together and soldering them to the switch pins. The signal wires from the LEDs to the IO expander board went smoothly, except for one broken light and a short wire.

For my wife's birthday, I decided to create a coin in her honor, featuring her name, online handle, and designs related to her interests, including a double helix and the caffeine symbol matching her tattoo. I used QCAD and OpenSCAD to design and extrude a 3D design, giving the coin a unique dimension with fidget-friendly ridges. I ordered parts to cast this in metal, but I have never done this before, so it will be a learning experience.

Sarah's latest comic, Noctiluca, launched, so Fred and I co-hosted the launch to support her. The show's highlight was when Sarah became giddy as backers pushed the campaign to 100% in less than two hours.

We hosted Ray Jamison (DM Ray) again as he promoted the final installment of his fantasy comic, The Madcaps. He picked Willow as a fitting movie, and we had a long show to cover everything we liked and disliked about it. Amanda taught us that just putting women in a few powerful roles does not necessarily make it a progressive script.
