2026-04-27 (M) Critical Affection: Entrapment

Ooo boy. Entrapment was a tricky movie. Last century this was a mid-tier film in an otherwise spectacular year. It did not age well. The sexism was blatant to the point that it made it hard to watch for everyone. The only sexy parts were Catherine Zeta-Jones, and she was anchored by writers, directors, producers, and her co-star, an age-inappropriate Sean Connery. We concluded that the skeleton of this movie, a thief who needs help to pull off the biggest heist ever, was solid, but the execution would have been better with different actors and some tweaks to the plot. Regardless of its problems, the CZJ character inspired Sarah to write a better spy for her comic, Noctiluca.
