Fred talked about making a promotional video, so I used the printed version of The Bloom to make a silly LEGO version where it attacked them on a football field. The "set" was a few pieces of green paper on a cardboard box, and the minifigs stood on bits of LEGO-compatible silicone strips with magnets stuck on the bottom. I moved them from inside the box with another magnet, and I just shoved The Bloom into view with a pen. Fred loved it, so it was worth it.
The group was concerned about shipping the printed onions because the tendrils were desperately fragile. Even the wrong packing material could break them. Fred suggested a base, and I had some round silicone molds. I ordered black hot-glue sticks and melted them into the molds, then dipped the monsters into the wicked brew. The little monsters were safely sealed in their plastic prisons and ready for transport.
Fred edited the video clips together, including some tracks my wife and I recorded of us screaming. I also recorded a "Hall of Monsters" skit that implied there was some sort of super-museum showcasing local villains. Fred published a day early, so it came out on my birthday.

I spent an evening getting things ready to head to the Grindfest venue. Most years, my wife and I show up early to get things prepared, but this year we decided to go a few weeks in advance and haul some of our thrift store finds before the event. Packing assistance was provided by Script Kitty, who managed the effort from his cardboard office.
Many grinders have tossed around the idea of implanted general-purpose microcontrollers, but I do not think anyone has one. I am going to make my attempt, and someone pointed me toward a low-power Bluetooth unit that may work, so I ordered a few for testing.
We watched The Incredibles for my birthday, and it was mostly well-received. Amanda had trouble enjoying it because of the lack of representation for PoC and women. Rewatching, I also noticed how Helen (Elastigirl) was grossly underused, despite being the movie's strongest character.
