2026-05-11 (M) Critical Affection: Empire Records

Empire Records was mostly fun, and our panel mostly enjoyed it despite its flaws. And it had all the flaws we expected, like rampant sexism, ill-advised life advice from teenage-portraying actors, and wanton abuse. But hey, it is Rex Manning day! Benjamin and Joe joined, picked the movie, and talked about their upcoming comic in its third chapter, Dead Air. A couple of us had not seen the movie, and the rest of us had seen it 20+ years ago, so we got to talk about it from a couple of perspectives. I was glad to rewatch the movie, and while it was hardly a forgotten classic or missing gem, it was a fun romp at a fantastical record store.
