2026-05-28 (Th) Grindfest2026 Spinner toy COMPLETED

The gumball machine refurbishment was fun, but I wanted to include something people had not seen before and something that did not cost much to produce. The first thing I tried was a spherical whistle that fit in the capsules, but I could not design a loud one, so I gave up. Whistles were not relevant to grinders, so the design was not worth pursuing. I thought back to when I was printing compasses, and they were high-precision units with tight tolerances, but if I were making a toy, I did not have to worry about that. I designed a simple stick with rounded ends and a node for holding a couple of magnets in the middle. I printed them so they barely fit into a capsule, and they stayed upright. A wave from a nearby magnet sends it spinning effortlessly. The overall effect was wonderful for something that cost less than a quarter.
