2026-06-16 (Tu) SubdermalDuino ESP32 power test

I plugged an ESP32 demo board into a solderless breadboard and connected a wireless power receiver. The unit powered on, so I downloaded a Bluetooth sketch that would let me communicate via my phone. I could ping the module while it was powered wirelessly, so it answered the question of whether or not an ESP32 would boot with wireless power. The problem I noticed was that the power receiver became dangerously hot just running a simple Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART) program. I tested a couple of unloaded receivers, and they overheated immediately as well. I could read 5.00 VDC from the leads. The transmitter was warm, not hot, and drew only 3 watts. I will have to do more tests to figure that out. I kept working on the communication and got the controller to recognize a capital B, so I should be able to recognize any single character.
