I soldered the wires from the microcontroller to the components according to my schematic. After the wires, I added resistors and an optocoupler. The optocoupler rested next to the MIDI input port, and I insulated the nearby bolt with electrical tape. I will need to make some changes to the schematic. I replaced the MIDI input pull-up resistor with a 10KΩ version. I want "Backside View" printer under the MIDI output to match the input, and I want an indicator on the optoisolator showing which is the first pin.
