2025-09-23 (Tu) BonfireLaserTag Testing infrared receivers in parallel

The screens were the next parts for assembly, but I had to ensure that I could install three infrared receivers without them interfering with each other. Years ago, I made PCBs with filtering components and three receivers in parallel, but I did not test them extensively, and this time I don't have the filtering components. I connected four receivers in parallel and added a green LED for feedback. They worked well, but I also needed to test them when only one receiver could recognize a signal. If the sensors held the data pin high when another was trying to lower the level, it would stop all communication. I covered three sensors with a metal Altoids container and unplugged one to test that I could aim a remote so that it would not trigger, and it worked. I added the fourth sensor back, but this time it was at the ends of some wires and outside the tin, and that lone sensor overrode the other three.
