I corrected the clearance between the brake and the frame so they did not intersect. I printed a copy of just the brake portion without the battery holder, but I forgot to correct for the bolt head diameter, so they were untestable. I corrected and printed a model with no supports, but I printed it upright. I wanted to print without supports because it took a long time to clear them and risked damaging parts. I tapped the plastic at the bottom, but when I inserted the bolt, the brake pads twisted, as I feared. One of the pads broke because of the new print orientation. I needed a better design, so I went to bed thinking about it. I had an idea about a cage surrounding the bolt, and when I tightened it, the cage would flex outward. This was a similar design to well plugs, but I should be able to make it entirely printable.
